It took us much longer than we ever imagined to completely remodel our Children’s Playroom and Children’s Support Group Room. It took us about two years to raise the funds, get bids, and have a contractor complete the rooms. But this long journey is over. We are enthused to announce both rooms are open for use.
These rooms are now clean, warm, bright, inviting, and comforting spaces for the children who are in shelter with their mothers. These children have their own unique needs since they too have experienced the violence in their home. These rooms give them a safe place to talk about the violence to begin healing, as well as to play in a secure environment and to do what childhood is about-playing.
In 32 years, this is the biggest renovation project we have ever completed and it was possible because of many great partners and individuals who supported this project.
Like Dr. Seuss says, “If you never did, you should. These things are fun, and fun is good.” Thank you for helping our children have fun and heal at the same time in a wonderful spaces.
