Mother’s Day Tribute Campaign 2026

Mother’s Day Tribute 2026

Mother’s Day is often wrapped in soft imagery. Handpicked flowers, pasta necklaces, and celebrations that assume safety and stability. Inside a domestic violence shelter, Mother’s Day carries a different weight. Here, we witness courage and heartbreak side by side. You see love at its most vulnerable. Quiet. Exhausted. Fierce.

In these spaces, motherhood does not look like the perfection often seen on social media. It looks like a woman holding herself together with shaking hands while holding her children even tighter. It looks like bedtime stories told in unfamiliar rooms, whispered promises of “this is temporary,” and hope that must be chosen again each morning. The shelter is filled with a love that has survived storms.

When I think of the word mom, it stretches far beyond biology. It becomes a feeling. A presence. A force. Mom is the woman sharing her last snack with another child who is not her own. It is the staff member who kneels to a child’s eye level and listens without rushing. It is the quiet encouragement exchanged between women who may have arrived as strangers but now form something like family.

At Saint Martha’s, community becomes a form of motherhood. Strength is shared. Wisdom is passed quietly over cups of coffee and late night conversations. Encouragement does not come wrapped in certainty, but in truth. We are not alone. We are doing the best we can. We are still standing.

The heartbreak is real. So is the fear. So is the resilience. The laughter that breaks through unexpectedly. Love here is deliberate. It shows up even when people are tired, grieving, or starting over from nothing.

This Mother’s Day, I honor the mothers whose courage may never be seen in greeting cards. The women who protect, nurture, and rebuild while carrying immense loss. The mothers who mother each other. The children learning what love looks like when it chooses survival and hope.

This Mother’s Day, may you remember those who have been your shelter in moments of uncertainty, and consider honoring them with a special Mother’s Day tribute or donation, given in gratitude for the love that helped you stand.
