Court Watch Project Report – St. Louis City Adult Abuse Hearings

The Court Watch Project is an integral part of the systems advocacy work of Saint Martha’s and the community of domestic and sexual violence victim service providers in our region.   Saint Martha’s serves as the lead agency coordinating the volunteer activities, trainings, and general oversight of the Project.

This report includes outcomes and recommendations of volunteer monitors’ observations of the adult abuse hearings in 22nd Judicial Circuit – Division 16 from November 2023 to May 2024.  The recommendations made in the report support the efforts of the Court and community partners in enhancing the court’s response to domestic violence cases.

The intention of our continued dedication to the project is to strive to work as a partner and build a more coordinated community response to domestic and sexual violence adult abuse cases.  Victim service providers and community stakeholders are committed to continued discussions on ways to improve our region’s response to domestic violence survivors and their children, and to increase offender accountability and responsibility in learning and adopting non-violent response options.
